Aloha, Aita Peatea.....

Did you get that?
    Aita Peatea,
           pronounced (ah-ee-tah-pay-ah-te-ah)

It's the Polynesian's motto:
"There will be another day tomorrow,   just like today"

And you truly do want every day to remain perfect ~ and tropical ~ just as it is suppose to be, in this lush South Pacific Polynesian Paradise.

Opening on October 1, 1971, the Polynesian Village Resort was one of the original WDW resorts.  Resting along the Seven Seas Lagoon,
The Polynesian sits along the monorail line in between the Ticket & Transportation Center and the Grand Floridian.

The tropical gardens and sounds begin to surround you when walking into the main entrance of the Great Ceremonial House. This is a beautiful atrium filled with tropical plants, flowers and water falls and it serves as the center hub of the resort. Located on the first floort of the Great Ceremonial House is the hotel lobby; guest services, check in, and concierge services are found here. For shoppers; on the first floor is Boutiki, which offers resort logo merchandise and gifts that have a tropical flair, and Wyland Gallery which is filled with environmental art featuring marine animals. The second floor has Trader Jack's, offering Disney souvenirs and sundries, and Samoa Snacks more sundries and convienience store items.

There are three restaurants at the Polynesian; the Kona Cafe, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and features the famous Tonga Toast at breakfast. O'Hana, a fun family style restaurant that features Lilo, Stich and friends at a character breakfast. And an all-you-care-to-eat dinner feast with cast member servers circulating the room with long skewers of meat & veggies that were grilled in the centerpiece of the restaurant,   an 18 foot semi-circular fire pit.  Want to catch a quick bite to eat?  Captain Cook's is a 24-hour walk up counter cafe.  Want a drink?  The Tambu Lounge on the second floor serves up appetizers and cocktails until midnight.   The Polynesian also hosts the Spirit of Aloha dinner show on most nights, weather permitting, as the show takes place outside.

847 guest rooms are located throughout 11   different buildings called longhouses at the Polynesian. Each building is either 2 or 3 stories high; all of the 1st floor rooms have outside patios and many have balconies on the 2nd & 3rd floors. When the Polynesian was being planned, the Imagineers wanted to replicate actual Hawaiian longhouses which didn't have balconies on upper floors.  To keep with the design style it was opted not to have them. However, when later buildings were built, upper level balconies were added.

Styled as a tropical paradise, the Polynesian covers 39 lush acres complete with beaches, waterfalls, volcanos and tiki torches. Daily there are numerous family activities to choose from including learning to hula dance, make a craft or go on a treaure hunt.  Nightly, be sure to attend a Tiki Torch Lighting Ceremony and go to a campfire and dance party. If you are around the resort at  9:00p.m.  head down to the beach on Seven Seas Lagoon and watch the Electrical Water Pageant.  It's a fun,  lighted,  musical  procession of floats.   OH!  and did I mention that the Polynesian is the only other location to serve Dole Whip besides the Magic Kingdom? (Do you know about this fablous treat?)  Ohh, I'll have to tell you about them later~

The Polynesian has two heated pools. The larger is the themed Nanea Volcano pool, it boasts a 40 foot high Volcano with a water fall and a fun 142 foot tubular waterslide that dumps you back into the pool. The second is the Quiet Pool, (hence the name)  if you are a family that likes to swim after coming in from the parks at night, then request a longhouse closer to the Volcano pool for your vacation.

Located on the grounds of the Polynesian is The Never Land Club, which is a supervised Peter Pan themed childcare program for ages 4 to 12 during the hours of 4:30 p.m. to 12:00 midnight. This fun program can allow for a night out for mom & dad, while the kids have a night out too, and no need to worry about feeding your kids before they go as there is a buffet dinner served between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. There are many activities to keep the kids busy, including a dress up area, arts & crafts, computers, a free arcade and its very own movie theater. The theming here is great; to enter Never Land you go through the Darling family's nursery window, and you'll find Skull Rock, a pirate ship and the clouds of London.

Our time here was wonderful, we only wish the weather was somewhat warmer so we could have enjoyed the pools, beaches and the ground of the resort more.
